Focus Home Interactive has just announced a new Massively Multiplayer Online strategy game: World of Battles.  What makes World of Battles really appealing is the fact that it will be free to play. All may not be exactly what it appears, however.  Although the game has been announced as "free" there is already a menu bar with the option to "Buy Gems".  That section is still under construction, as is the explanation as to what "gems" are, but something about it suggests that players may want to buy gems for more than just philanthropic reasons.  Stay tuned for more.

Anyway, back to what we know so far.  Set in a medieval-fantasy world, players can choose one of nine factions.   Players can draw up huge armies and will have a large variety of customizations options for specifying their appearance.  Players can go online with friends to cooperatively play against other gamers.  More information on the game will be announced, and further details can be found on the official website
